Phoenix canariensis, the phoenix palm or Canary Island palm, is a species of palm tree endemic to the Canary Islands. Due to its beauty and ease of adaptation, it is one of the palm trees most used in gardening. It is a very long-lived species, so much so that the tallest specimens reach over two and perhaps three centuries of age, and are very large, some reaching over 30 m in height. The Canary Island palm is considered, according to a law of the Canary Islands Government, the natural symbol of the Canary Islands archipelago.
